WordPress Migration Continues ... New Pages

The front page of ASDHollywood.com has migrated again, this time to WordPress 3.5 (very long story that has to do with the way my host, 1and1.com, deals with click-and-build versus do-it-yourself -- the short of it is that I had hoped to use "click-and-build" but realized that if I want to keep the site current, I'll have to use do-it-yourself). The front page of Dalinka.com remains in a click-and-build installation of WordPress 3.4.2. One of the plugins I had hoped to use, also hasn't been upgraded by its authors to compatibility with WordPress 3.5, so I've had to find some other plugins and develop more code behind the scenes to make the page-by-page transition to the new platform. I certainly have more tweaking to do to the page layout to take full advantage of the "Responsive Theme" and its ability as good on mobile devices as on other browsers. I also have a bit more learning and experimenting to do before I (hopefully) may be able to one day say page transitions could be easy. So far, the creation of the About page was not too difficult. More difficult was the creation of a "Disney "places" in LA page to transition the old page that hosted only photos of Encounter Restaurant at LAX into a page that also includes photos of Walt Disney Concert Hall in Downtown L.A. and some Hollywood Boulevard sites. Creation of the new version of the "Disney Studios Burbank" page wasn't as easy as I hoped after what I learned and created for the LA page. Indeed, the YouTube embedding is not working as advertised -- it's making the video way too big on the page. In any event, Disney in New York and Disney in Chicago will be next....

Back from Disneyland and Los Angeles

Just spent a week in Southern California visiting Disneyland, including Candlelight Processional at Disneyland, and the incredible new Cars Land, Buena Vista Street and (slightly less new) World of Color show and Little Mermaid ride at Disney California Adventure. During the trip, I also visited Beverly Hills, Hollywood, Burbank, Studio City, Santa Monica and many other sites around the area ... and, if you caught it just right, I was even seen on Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson on both Thursday and Friday nights (since both episodes were taped back-to-back on Thursday), with a very nice on-camera moment for me right next to Craig as he ran through the audience about five minutes before the end of Friday's show. Some pictures are on the PhotoBlog now; more photos on the site soon.
