Site Update Status

With the completion of today's update to the Disneyland Pages, every page on the site except for the pages linked from the Walt Disney World Pages now has the new format.

I've also written a bit of code to try to stop the time & date greeting from going off the page when we get into day/month combos as long as Wednesday, September 21, 2011.

Status of Website's New Format

A major landmark early today, September 10, 2011: Every page available from the menus here on the Update Blog, the Travel Blog and the pull-down menus at ASDHollywood.com and DALINKA.com now is available in the new format (with a link to its prior version in case something is not working).

The "50 Random" photos feature on the first page of DALINKA.com now selects from more than 1200 of the photos posted to the site! Nearly every photo in the slideshow now has a fairly descriptive title and the exact date it was taken.

The Hometown Chicago page now randomizes the order of the slideshow and provides five immediate jump points by description of photo and its date.

More to come...

Now See More than 500 Chicago Photos

As the site redesign progresses along, I've added hundreds of Chicago photos to the newly re-designed Home Town Chicago page. One of the features of the new design is that the slide show now displays the photos in a random order and that five random photos have direct links with descriptions to the left of the slide show. Enjoy.

Welcome Page for Dalinka.com Has a New Transitional Format

As the site upgrades continue, I've given the Welcome Page for Dalinka.com a new Transitional Format that borrows elements from the new style via iWeb but, for the moment, continues most of the layout of the prior page. Let me know what you think about how I should continue the redesign in the comments.

The Update Blog Now Matches ASD's Travel PhotoBlog's Format

The Site Updates Blog now has the same format as ASD's Travel PhotoBlog. Both blogs now welcome comments and feedback (though you may still find some posts that have not yet been updated to permit commenting.)

ASD's Travel PhotoBlog Has A New Format Too!

ASD's Travel PhotoBlog has a new format and allows commenting and sharing. Give it a try.

Articles by ASD about Disney Parks and Other Stuff now part of ASDHollywood.com

With today's launch of the new page format for ASDHollywood.com, I've also started publishing Articles & Essays about Disney Parks, Other Places Around The World, and Anything Else That Comes To Mind. I haven't decided on a publishing schedule yet, but the more demand I see either through emails and increased traffic, the more often I will publish.

There are already two original Articles posted: the first, A Brief History of Epcot, has been on the site since 2002 but it was pretty-well buried; the second, What Are You Doing at Walt Disney World on New Year's Eve? is newly published but was written back in January. A third Article, What Are You Doing New Year's Eve?, was also written back in January and it will be added soon. Probably by the time you've read this!

Enjoy and I look forward to hearing from you.

Now the New Page Layout for asdhollywood.com is the Welcome Page

While it's still a work in progress, when you visit ASDHollywood.com, the first page of the website now uses the new format. The new format is also used for the About Page and the Collected Links Page.

New York Pages - now with Late Show with David Letterman Souvenirs

While the site has had a Disney in NYC page since 2005, I've added a page of Souvenirs & Photos (built in iWeb) from visits to Late Show with David Letterman (of course, not including the show or the inside of the Ed Sullivan Theater).  A new link on the menu bar for New York, NY allows access to each of these pages and additional pages which will be added soon.

New Webpage for 1970s Walt Disney World Images

Since I've been scanning images and digitizing old home movies of my 1970s Walt Disney World trips, I've created a new page to host all of the new "old" stuff as I post it. So far, by reviewing old family photos, souvenirs and home movies, I've confirmed trips in October 1972, October 1973 and Spring 1975.

Souvenirs of the Inauguration of Bush 41 - January 20, 1989

I pulled out some of my souvenirs from the Inauguration of George H. W. Bush from January 20, 1989 and scanned a few of them. I posted them on a new page linked to the picture of the inaugural parade that has been on the first page of Dalinka.com for as long as I can remember. If there is enough interest (or I get otherwise motived), I may scan and add more of my souvenirs and pictures.

1972 Walt Disney World Video

October 1972. My father shot one roll of 8 mm film -- that's about 3 minutes of film -- of our visit (though I've cut out the family shots except for me interacting with a blinking Goofy).

In this silent digitized video (with music by YouTube's AudioSwap) of that film, you'll see:

Topiaries in front of the Contemporary Resort on the Seven Seas Lagoon.

A sign for the "World Cruise" on the Seven Seas Lagoon & Bay Lake.

An outdoor band stage with Bambi's friends Flower and Thumper dancing.

The 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea Submarines

Brief views of Frontierland, Liberty Square and Adventureland from near where Splash Mountain now sits, including a view of The Haunted Mansion which is no longer possible from the original Walt Disney World Railroad station in Frontierland. Of course, there was no Big Thunder Mountain either.

The river was drained during this visit, so there is no steamboat in the Magic Kingdom, but the burning cabin was ablaze, some of the scenes along the river are in place near the railroad tracks, the skyway's 90ยบ turn is completely unobstructed and operating and the speedway has no Space Mountain next door.

1997 Disneyland Video

From the archive, I've started posting video of Disneyland from Christmas Eve, December 24, 1997. The playlist is now embedded below. You can also visit ASD's Disneyland Photos & Videos -- First Page to see it or, of course, ASD's YouTube Channel.

Brief video clips added to a few pages

I have added a 2011 Walt Disney World Photos & Videos page including not only my previously-posted YouTube video of the Countdown to New Year at Epcot, but a couple of brief (facebook) video clips from around the resort and my YouTube video of the Magic Kingdom's Celebrate a Dream Come True Parade.

I've also been embedding other brief video clips I previously posted on facebook:

Over on my London, England page, I've added a brief video clip of Harrod's.

On my Paris, France page, I've added a brief video clip of the Eiffel Tower at night as seen from the Seine River.

On my Israel page, I've added three brief video clips from around Jerusalem.

On my Washington, D.C. page, I've added a brief video clip of the U.S. Supreme Court and the U.S. Capitol.

Perhaps by the time you read this, a facebook bug will be fixed and I'll have added a brief video clip of the Astronomical Clock striking the hour ceremony at the Old Town Square on my Prague, Czech Republic page.
